Audio sessions of Family Campmeeting 2016 with General Director Jim Lyons are available here. The topic was “Out of the Box: Following Jesus in the 1st and 21st century” and they encouraged creative ways of doing church.
Born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Harry Hoehne became a follower of Christ in his early years and was baptized as a teenager. During his teen years he began to sense God calling him into ministry but he didn’t pursue the calling at that time.
Harry received a renewed calling in 2003 and as he processed and prayed, he understood and accepted God’s call on his life and that He wanted him to pursue vocational ministry instead of continuing as an active lay leader.
Shortly after this life changing experience, Harry felt led to take his family on the first of five mission-trips – twice to Uganda, Brazil, Yap and Haiti. The greatest blessings from these trips were that Harry’s understanding of God’s church was greatly expanded and our mutual responsibility to one another confirmed.
The Divine Call on Harry’s life led him back to university in 2005, after almost twenty five years. While working as a full time fire fighter, through on line studies Harry completed a BSc of Chrisitian Ministry as well as a MA in Leadership at Mid America Christian University which have helped prepare him for the complexity of ministry. He was employed by the Hamilton Fire Department for over sixteen years prior to their move to Carstairs.
Shortly after coming back from their first mission-trip and Harry beginning university again, God clearly led their path to begin sharing God’s Word in 2006. God gave joy and traveling mercies as Harry served as part-time pastor of two churches.
Harry also had the opportunity and privilege to serve the provincial church body in this time by being on the Board of Missions as well as the Board of Directors. The Church of God in Eastern Canada graciously extended an invitation for him to officially begin the process of commissioning, licensing and in March of 2013, ordination.
Early on in 2013, Harry and his wife Ingrid felt that God was directing their path to Carstairs, Alberta. After much prayer and seeking the Lord’s guidance, God unmistakably confirmed this call into full time ministry and in September of 2013 Harry began this new role as lead pastor for the Church of God in Carstairs.
In addition to his pastoral duties, Harry is the chaplain for the Carstairs Legion, he serves as a member of the Carstairs Church Link as well as the Carstairs and area ministerial. Harry is a plumber by trade, a fire fighter by profession and a pastor by calling.
During the warmer months of the year, Harry might be found enjoying a round of golf, fishing, gardening or out on a bike ride with his wife Ingrid. Harry and Ingrid have been married since 1986 and have a son, Matthew married to Rebecca, and a daughter Amanda.
